Partner Development Coordinator, Mae Sot

The International Rescue Committee (www.Rescue.org) responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people to survive and rebuild their lives. Founded in 1933 at the request of Albert Einstein, the IRC offers lifesaving care and life-changing assistance to refugees in over 40 countries and 22 U.S. cities forced to flee from war or disaster.
The Partner Development Coordinator (PDC) will coordinate efforts to strengthen the management and leadership capacities of local partner organizations to deliver health, education, legal, and other services, and advocate for lasting positive change for displaced Burmese. These efforts will include the development of professional organizational development training curricula for non-profit management, finance and other related courses, to be certified and offered through local community colleges, as well as the development of an innovative leadership development program. The PDC will lead the Partner Development unit and work closely with other project staff, as well as project partners, to ensure that tailored organizational development assistance is consistent with project objectives, is coordinated and integrated with technical assistance, and promotes more effective and efficient service delivery. The PDC will promote partner relationships based on principles of mutual trust and respect, mutual accountability, reciprocity, inclusion and transparency. Further, the PDC will ensure that partner development activities promote local ownership. The PDC will also ensure that the project produces the necessary data to inform program decisions and improve program quality.
REQUIREMENTS
- University graduate, with post-graduate degree in humanitarian work, civil society development, community development, non-profit management, or related field preferred;
- At least five years’ experience working in humanitarian field, including two years’ working with civil society partners in a capacity building/ organizational development role;
- Expertise in the development and use of partner capacity building tools, as well as tools to monitor that work;

Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, including the ability to design and deliver trainings and facilitate workshops;
- Able to work independently while being a strong team player;

Culturally sensitive with the ability and interest to identify and work with a multi-ethnic team;

Familiarity with delivery of health, education, and humanitarian assistance for displaced Burmese; and
-
Fluent Burmese and English essential; Thai or other related language skills an asset.

The Protection Coordinator (PC) will coordinate efforts to promote access to justice and protection, prevention and response to gender based violence, and the integration of humanitarian protection in interventions for displaced Burmese. The PC will lead the Protection unit and work closely with other project staff, to ensure that all protection work is consistent with project objectives, is coordinated and integrated with other project sectors, and promotes more effective and efficient service delivery. The PC will promote partner relationships based on principles of mutual trust and respect, mutual accountability, reciprocity, inclusion and transparency, and will be the primary liaison with relevant Thai officials and civil society organizations at the provincial level. Further, the PC will ensure that protection activities promote local ownership. The PC will also ensure that the project produces the necessary quantity and quality of data to inform program decisions and improve program quality.

- University graduate, with post-graduate studies in law, gender, humanitarian work, or related fields essential;
- At least five years’ experience working in access to justice, gender or protection, with two years’ project management experience, essential;
- Experience working with civil society partners in a capacity building/ organizational development role essential;
