Col Ner Dah Mya, the son of the late Gen Bo Mya of the Karen National Union (KNU), has reportedly been released on bail by the Thai army, according to the London-based British Broadcasting Corporation Burmese service. He was arrested in January.

The BBC quoted a Thai army officer as saying that Col Ner Dah Mya was arrested and charged with possessing illegal weapons and transporting Burmese migrants to Thailand.

A senior KNU official confirmed Col Ner Dah Mya had been arrested along the Thai-Burmese border, where, the official said, he was supporting KNLA battalions in Burma.

Observers in Mae Sot in Tak Province said Thai authorities have increased pressure on leaders of the KNU and its armed wing, the KNLA.

The KNLA has been fighting the Burmese government since 1948. Its headquarters was overrun in 1995, and KNLA military activities moved closer to the Burmese-Thai border.

The KNU has continued to wage war against the Burmese military, mainly by forming small units and basing themselves in temporary jungle camps along the Thai-Burmese border.

Anyone who is saying those are propagandas, please go and see the areas where the KNU committed mass killings. There are many witnesses who are still surviving at these places. The continuous raping and killing are normal in rebel groups in Burma.

freeburmanow, I more than welcome your attention to me. Don't worry, I am always opening my door. You can join me for lunch.

Hey, I hope you are normal. Don't talk about uniting Burmese ethnics. Please try to organise to get a single party of 2 people from Burma. You can be a president if it is successful. Don't bluff any more.

naingmya.... I believe I see your propaganda writings in the fake paper "New Light of Myanmar" No? Charles F and millions of others know the truth. There is only one truth, one reality, that is the SLORC/SPDC's daily rape, murder and torture. Your men are defecting daily. SPDC, speak the truth, please, you are ready to fall. What will happen then? No more billions in ruby or jade money for Than Shwe's daughter's wedding? I am watching you, naingmya, scared, fearful, but you do not see me. I am everywhere, with everyone, Burmans, Kayins, Karennis, Shans, Wa, Kachins, Nagas, Chins, Rohyingas, Rakhine... And I am watching you, more than Khin Nyut's "Unintelligent" officers ever knew. You can't hide anymore. Be honest, naingmya, who is the stooge? Do you have a mirror? Or are you too scared to look?

I think it should be obvious to anyone that what Naingmya describes is attributable solely to the SPDC. It's well documented that the SPDC engages in wholesale murder and rape, as well as being involved in drug smuggling and sex slavery.

That Naingmya would throw out the canard that it's the KNLA engaged in these sorts of activities would leave one to believe that he is nothing more than an agent of the SPDC and the corrupt generals in Burma.

He is a terrorist and also a human trafficker. Transporting people is human smuggling and he should deserve life in prison. No wonder the KNU is shrinking. They have killed and raped a lot of innocent civilians since 1948. Many people were killed and they burnt down many towns and villages for their ethnic hate; eg: in 1949, they shot and slaughtered hundreds of innocent people in Phu town, Pegu division, after they occupied the town. Every person who witnessed the scene said the KNU leaders ate the human bodies after they killed them brutally. They have abused numerous human rights in Burma. There is no word to describe how the KNU has committed the crimes in their history.
