China Destroys Ikea’s Nestle Chocolate

Chinese authorities say they have destroyed nearly two tons of chocolate cake imported by Sweden’s Ikea for violating food quality standards. The Shanghai quarantine bureau said this week Kraft cheese and 2.7 tons of Nestle chocolate bars also were among dozens of imported products destroyed in its latest round of quality inspections. Chinese authorities have stepped up food inspections in recent years after a series of scandals over fake or shoddy goods. The
Shanghai quarantine bureau said it destroyed 1,872 kilos of chocolate almond cake imported by Ikea that it said had excessive levels of coliform bacteria. It said the Nestle chocolate contained too much sorbitol, a sweetener that in large amounts can cause bowel problems.—AP

    Eric! You are so right!!! The shipments of dollar store junk pilling up on our ports is maddening!!! Sounds like China is a little jealous of Ikea’s success and is aiming to drop stocks perhaps?!?! We buy Canadian/USA first and avoid China products at all costs. Furthermore, its so sad to see our valuable resources like coal etc, be shipped off to China, only for Canada/USA to be buying it back to them for 100 times more once we have gone dry! Scary!!! When will North American leaders WAKE UP!!!
