Visa Plans to Introduce Credit Cards in Burma
American credit card giant Visa Inc. held a conference in Naypyidaw on Tuesday to announce their intention to introduce Visa cards in Burma, Forbes reports. Visa discussed how the national payment network Myanmar Payment Union—a network of 17 banks that was set up early last year—and the upcoming expansion of mobile-phone services might be used to roll out its financial services. About 200 participants, including a Myanmar Central Bank deputy governor and officials from the ministries of finance, communications and tourism, attended the conference.
