Five Buddhist monks who suffered severe burns as the result of the Nov. 29 police raid on anti-copper mine protesters will receive further medical treatment in Thailand, Wimala, a monk who is assisting the injured, told The Irrawaddy on Thursday. Taeikha Nyana, 64, will be discharged from Mandalay General Hospital and fly to Bangkok on Thursday. Taeikha Nyana, whose back, legs and arms are covered with burns, is unable to lie down or sit and he has to be fed by others. Another four injured monks in Mandalay are waiting to receive passports before they are evacuated.
