Indian Trade Bank to Open Burma Office

The Export-Import Bank of India (EXIM) will open a representative office in Burma with a view of increasing bilateral trade between Northeastern India and Burma, Indian news outlet The Economic Times reports. EXIM Chairman & Managing director T.C.A. Rangathan said this trade focused for the largest part on Indian export of agriculture produce, such as tea from Assam State. “We have applied for permission and expect to start the office in the next couple of months,” he told the newspaper.
