The number of Japanese tourists traveling to Burma in the first seven months of the year has doubled compared with 2011, according to a report by The Japan Times. Citing data from Burma’s Central Statistical Organization, the report says that a total of 11,893 Japanese entered the country on tourist visas between January and July, compared to 5,537 in the same period last year. However, the number is still relatively low, accounting for just five percent of the total of 242,370 foreign tourists who entered during the same period.
